The GHSL framework, next to the growing availability of open and free Earth Observations data and the Big Earth Data and Artificial Intelligence advances, relies on the interaction and collaboration with other scientists and decision makers through networks, projects and international initiatives.

GHSL activities and products support the Group on Earth Observations and the Human Planet Initiative, the JRC Community of Practice on Cities, the endeavours of the European Commission, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the World Bank, UN-Habitat, the International Labour Organisation, and the Food and Agriculture Organization that developed a harmonised definition of urban and rural areas.
